About Me photo

A bit of history

When I moved to the UK I didn’t know what kind of food I was going to find. Or if all the ingredients to cook all my favourite family meals were available to me. However, the prospect of trying a new cuisine has always been really exciting for me so I dived straight into all the flavours the British Isles could offer.

I noticed that British cuisine is a mix of many cultural influences which I love. There’s a wide range of ingredients and foods that I’ve never tried before. I started experimenting with what I could find and applying the cooking skills that my mum taught me to the dishes and recipes I’ve discovered here.

Like all experimentation processes, I’ve had some great results and some not-so-good ones!
But all this now gives me a good range of homemade, easy and fun recipes that I wanted to share with you 🙂

This blog

Throughout my blog, you’ll find all sorts of original recipes and versions of Italian, British and international meals and snacks. Most recipes accommodate a vegetarian or vegan diet but I’m also including suggestions for meat and fish options to suit your diet. The ingredients I use can be found in supermarkets – although I recommend buying fresh produce from your local farm shop if you can, as it is often much tastier and can be a more environmentally friendly option.

  • Air fryer sweet potatoes fries with seasoning
  • Easy Homemade Hummus - chickpeas and salt
  • Homemade Buckwheat bread crumbs and pieces on a wooden table.
  • Creamy Roasted Pumpkin Soup nicely presented on a wooden table with an orange candle, a green leaf house plant and a side dish
  • Vegan Coconut Granola in an airtight container
  • Simple Whole Wheat Banana Bread nicely displayed on a wooden table with autumnal flowers and leaves, and a book.

In this blog, you’ll find many recipes for those who suffer from GERD or GORD (Acid Reflux), stomach ulcers or hiatus hernias – like this gal right here. I’ve been suffering from these stomach conditions for almost 10 years. So with a bit of trial and error, AND, most importantly, with the help of a certified nutritionist and medical professionals, I’ve learnt to manage my symptoms and I’ve come up with some tasty recipes.

I know how taxing it can be to live with these medical conditions so I try to make all my recipes easy and quick – enjoyable to both cook and eat. I know these issues are different for everyone. But the recipes I include here have helped me in my healing journey, so I hope they’ll help you too!

I hope you enjoy my recipes, tips, and tricks. Don’t forget to subscribe to the Cheeky Green Bean Newsletter to get access to all the cheeky offers, new recipes and extra Bean content!
